The Vice President and Prime Minister of U.A.E. and ruler of Emirate of Dubai, H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum has issued a directive to the concern authorities not to detain any journalist due to the nature of their work, effective 25th of September, 2007. H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum has issued the directive to he relative organizations emphasizing that there are other procedures to be taken in case of a certain violation by any journalist but imprisonment is not included. This directive has been issued to the cabinet to speed up the process of issuing press and publication law in the light of the amendments made by the NMC in collaboration with relevant organizations. The aim of this directive is provide the journalist with the best working environment that will enable them to carry out their mission efficiently.
