The National Media Council and the Dubai Technology and Media Free zone Authority have signed a memorandum of understanding to regulate the issuance of media licenses in the media free zone. According to the memorandum, TECOM should obtain pre-approval from the NMC before issuing licenses for any radio broadcast or TV telecast and for publishing newspapers, magazines and any newsprint, books and other related materials. The memorandum of understanding comes in line with the cabinet decision on reorganizing issuance of media licenses to serve the UAE’s interest and ensure media practices in compliance with domestic and foreign policies.
