Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) is the Shortest Way to Achieve Just Says Abu Dhabi Judicial Department

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) Division of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department has expanded its operations inline with the 2008-2013 strategy that aims at promoting the concept of reconciliation as a crucial part to be adopted prior to opening any court case.

ADR was established as per the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Presidential Affairs and the Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department. 

Counselor Al Bashri Al Shorbaji, Director of ADR underscored the importance of this division in promoting forgiveness and friendliness amongst the community via a group of high calibers of legal and administration professionals. He said that this division doesn’t depend on legal perspectives only in solving disputes but also on social values to reach a solution without compromising on the rights of the parties in dispute. 

He added that Alternative Dispute Resolutions were initiated to minimize the litigation time and promote the culture of tolerance in the community. 

The law Binds the Civil-case and Personal Status disputing parties to seek amicable and reconciliation-based solutions to their disputes.

This alternative decreases the number of cases raised to courts and enhances the ability of courts to settle cases more efficiently. 

The division functions systematically across its various sections with the personal status judges and family guidance specialists. It works with counseling houses including influential agents to provide consultancy to ensure stability amongst families, business sectors and labors. 

The division works on quantitative and qualitative analysis to enhance the alternative solutions. 

ADR works on enhancing the educational programs provided to its staff in accordance with promoting the importance of alternative solutions as the ideal channels to be adopted instead of courts. 

In its preparations to enhance the alternative dispute resolution, ADJD worked at developing an advanced program to assess the locations and performance and services of the offices of the ADR. 

ADR ensures that law is enforced and reconciliation sessions are well managed. It composes of well-experienced and dispute settlement expertise members chosen by the ADJD to meet the desired outcomes.

The division provides amicable solutions in civil, commercial and personal status disputes without having to go to trial. It assists ADJD to introduce creative procedures and solutions to disputes that would minimize caseload in courts. Disputes, that turn out too difficult to be solved amicably, are forward by ADR to the competent court.
